Original Six memories

Call me a sentimentalist when it comes to hockey, but this is a great picture.

Hall of Famers Stan Mikita and Henri Richard drop the ceremonial first puck Tuesday night before the Montreal Canadiens' 4-3 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

THREE STARS OF THE NIGHT, JAN. 9

1. Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Anaheim Ducks: Giguere made 28 saves for his second shutout of the season and 27th of his career in the Ducks' 5-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

2. Olaf Kolzig, Washington Capitals: Kolzig carried a shutout deep into the third period of Washington's 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, handing coach Bruce Boudreau a present for his 53rd birthday.

3. Stu Barnes, Dallas Stars: Barnes' short-handed goal from the blue line with 6:04 to play in the third period helped send Dallas to a 3-1 win over Chicago. The Stars have won back-to-back games following a four-game skid.
