A different kind of vast right-wing conspiracy

Fellow STATS hockey enthusiast and Islander apologist Jon Palmieri brought this to my attention.

The Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators played on Tuesday night, hours after Barack Obama’s inauguration.

Washington and Ottawa also played on Nov. 4 – the night Obama defeated Republican challenger John McCain to become the 44th president of the United States, and the first African-American to do so.

For the geographically challenged, Ottawa is the capital of Canada.

The Senators also won both games.

Since I don't have a vested interest in the Capitals... they can continue to lose if it will let President O succeed.

Verification word kiesca: the dessert of pretty Slavic girls.

Also, Washington is the capital of the USA. Obama used to be a Senator that worked in Washington (not Ottawa). Obama and Ottawa both start in O and end in A, although the President was not on O and A (Opie & Anthony). The Nov 4 game was the second time the Capitals played on a presidential election day (4-1 win over the Blackhawks in Indy Nov. 3, 1992). On that day, a Democrat, Bill Clinton, won and eventually took over for a George Bush. Clinton's wife, Hillary, is the new Secretary of State. With regard to forgeign relations in last night's game, Peter Regin became the fifth player born in Denmark to make the NHL, and he played on a line with Mike Fisher, who scored the overtime goal to win the Nov. 4 game for the Senators.

Oh yeah, and tell Palmieri the Islanders suck.
